Danny Spitz is an American guitarist best known as a founding member of the thrash metal band Anthrax, formed in 1981. He played a pivotal role in shaping the band's sound, contributing to their distinctive blend of heavy metal and hardcore punk. Spitz’s intricate guitar work and songwriting were integral to the band’s success during the 1980s and early 1990s. Notable works include the albums "Among the Living" (1987) and "Persistence of Time" (1990), both of which are considered classics in the thrash metal genre. The song "Caught in a Mosh," from "Among the Living," remains one of the band's signature tracks. Spitz's impact on music extends beyond his technical skills; he helped to popularize the thrash metal genre alongside contemporaries like Metallica and Slayer. His work with Anthrax contributed to the band's status as one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal. After leaving Anthrax in 1995, Spitz pursued various musical projects, including the band Red Lamb, and returned to Anthrax for their 2005 reunion.
